Ingredients:
Rava (semolina) -1 cup
Onion -1 medium sized
Green chillies -4-5
Fresh green peas (muttar) -1oogms
Tomato -1-medium sized
Ghee -2 tblsps
Curry leaves - few
Water - 3-4 cups
Salt - as required
Coriander leaves - for garnishing
Method:
Take ghee ia pan, add mustard seeds,jeera,curry leaves and green chillies.
When mustard seed splutters add onions and fry well then add the tomato and stir fry for some time
Add the rava and roast. Add some salt and mix well. put the green peas in it.
Add boiling water to the rava and mix well to make sure there are no lumps.
close it with a lid , and after it is cooked till the consistency becomes thick, garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
This dish can be had with tomato onion chutney or coconut chutney. Serve it hot
It looks great!! I have this occasionally for breakfast! But isnt it just like upma?
ReplyDeleteHi Avanika, thanks for visiting my blog.It is a little like upma but with slight variations in the items. In upma we season it with dals lie urad dal,hing may be a little chana dal but we don't do the same in khichdi.Its vey much softer and smoother than upma with a lot of ghee.
