Urad dhal -1/4 cup
Crushed peanuts -1/4 cup
Chopped onion -1
Mustard seeds -1 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Chopped green chillies - 3
Curry leaves - few
Asafoetida (hing) 1 pinch
Oil
Salt
Method:
1. Soak the rice and urad dhal for 2 hrs.
2. Drain the water and grind to a smooth paste and leave it overnight to ferment.
3.Next day take a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, jeera, green chillies, chopped onion, crushed peanuts, curry leaves and hing and stir.
4.Now add the stir fried items to the batter.
5. Take a pan and make round dosas or you can take a container with 6-8 hollow moulds (called appa karal) and pour the batter into these small moulds little into each of them, after greasing the moulds with little oil.
6.Now turn the appes with a small spoon and cook it on the other side.
7.It is now ready. You can have this hot with either coconut chutney or any chutney of your choice.
