Thengai Kuzhambu /Fresh Coconut Sambar

Ingredients:

Freshly grated Coconut - 1 cup

Green chillies - 3-4

Sambar powder - 2 tsps

Haldi powder - 1/4 tsp

Hing - a pinch

Tamarind - 1 small lemon size

Curry leaves - few

Toor dal - 1/2 cup

Coriander leaves for garnishing.

Seasoning:

Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

Oil - 1tsp

Method;

Take a vessel with water and soak the tamarind .

Take a fresh coconut and grate it .

Put the fresh coconut in the tamarind extract liquid.

Keep the liquid on the gas and let it boil.

Add salt, haldi powder,cut green chillies,sambar powder, hing, curry leaves.

Pressure cook the toor dal with water

Let the coconut kuzhambu boil nicely.

Add the cooked toor dal and mix nicely.

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Take a kadai with little oil and season with mustard seeds.

Pour the seasoning on the thengai (coconut) kuzhambu.

The yummy thengai (Coconut ) kuzhambu is hot and ready.

You can have this thengai kuzhambu with some poriyal and sutta appalam.

This is my paternal Grandma's recipe which she would make quite often and we would eagerly wait for this

Kuzhambu and finish off the whole vessel in a jiffy.
