Rain havoc in Sharjah (United Arab Emirates)

The heavy downpour of rains in Sharjah two days back have caused a great havoc to the city.Believe me the rains lasted hardly for a little more than half an hour and You can see the results in the above pictures.
The vehicles had come to a total standstill not able to move since the roads resembled a river or stream full of water. The commuters were stranded and affected very badly. There were a lot of accidents and death tolls too. Some of the big hoardings, trees etc were uprooted.
construction sites of buildings were badly damaged by water logging. The poor workers were very helpless not knowing what to do. They had been toiling for so many days to lay foundations .

  5. What is wrong with Earth? First earthquake in Haiti, then Chile and now floods in UAE. I'm even afraid to sleep nowadays with these nightmares. We need to act.

  20. Yes,the rains created so much of chaos.Thank Goodness I reside in the Dubai border. It was not so bad out here.Really sad to hear about the huge accidents and traffic woes.
I wonder when the govt here spends so much money on just lavish and unnecessary show off stunts....can't they provide a better drainage system?
