Raw Plaintain Stem - 1 medium
Moong Dal - a handful
Green Chillies - 3-4
Mustard seeds - 1 1/2 tsps
Urad Dal - 1 1/2 tsps
Oil for cooking

Method:
Take the paintain stem, peel off the skin with a peeler and cut into small pieces and put in a vessel with water and a drop of buttermilk.
Now drain off the water and put the pieces in a vessel and add salt and moon dal and mix nicely and keep aside.
Take a kadai pour oil and season with mustard ,Urad dal,hing,Green chillies slit and cut.
Now put the stem pieces on the seasoning and mix nicely and stir.
You can pour suficient water on the pieces for it to cook nicely by closing with a lid.
You can also put the vazhathandu pieces in a microwave bowl and cook in the micrwave for about 10 minutes.
Now after the curry is cooked ,you can garnish the curry with fresh grated coconut.
Loved the vazhaithandu curry. Ur version is interesting. Mine is the same minus the moong dal. Would try ur version the next time. Very very healthy dish.
