Vazhathandu Curry /Raw Plaintain Stem Curry

Take a vessel full of water,pour little buttermilk in it and peel the outer skin and cut the stem into
small pieces and put into the water. Drain off the water and put the pieces in a vessel add salt and handful of moong dal and mix nicely and keep aside.


Now take a kadai and put the seasonings and the stem pieces and cook it covered with water or in microwave for 10 minutes.



The Curry is now ready you can remove from fire and garnish with fresh coconut.

Ingredients:
Raw Plaintain Stem - 1 medium
Moong Dal - a handful
Green Chillies - 3-4
Mustard seeds - 1 1/2 tsps
Urad Dal - 1 1/2 tsps
Oil for cooking
Salt as required
Fresh grated coconut for garnishing.
Hing - a pinch
Method:
Take the paintain stem, peel off the skin with a peeler and cut into small pieces and put in a vessel with water and a drop of buttermilk.
Now drain off the water and put the pieces in a vessel and add salt and moon dal and mix nicely and keep aside.
Take a kadai pour oil and season with mustard ,Urad dal,hing,Green chillies slit and cut.
Now put the stem pieces on the seasoning and mix nicely and stir.
You can pour suficient water on the pieces for it to cook nicely by closing with a lid.
You can also put the vazhathandu pieces in a microwave bowl and cook in the micrwave for about 10 minutes.
Now after the curry is cooked ,you can garnish the curry with fresh grated coconut.
