Ingredients:
Raw green mango - 1 medium size
Ginger - 1 small piece
Tamarind -very small gooseberry size (since the raw mango itself is quite sour enough)
Dry red chillies - 6-7
Urad dal - 3/4 Tblsp
Hing - a pinch
Salt as required
Method:
Wash and cut the raw mango into small pieces.
Take a kadai and roast urad dal and dry red chillies.
Now put the cut mango pieces, small cut ginger pieces, urad dal, dry red chillies, salt and hing in a mixie and wet grind into chutney by adding very little water.
The raw mango chutney (manga thogaiyal) is ready to be had with plain rice with a few drops of sesame oil and sutta appalam ( roasted appalam / papad).
This chutney is quite tangy and spicy at the same time and quite tasty too along with curd rice

ReplyDeleteThis is a new chutney for me. Always made chutney with raw mango pieces or shreds, never by grinding. Sounds superb.
